When homeowners decide to do a large remodel of their home, often the work can be too overwhelming or is not feasible or affordable. A large remodeling project can be divided into different phases, however, with a master plan as the guiding force. This was the case with this two-phase remodel that included a sunroom, deck, and gazebo addition to a home in Worthington Hills.

The owners of a beautiful home located on the 7th green of the golf course wanted an open, sunlit space that would take advantage of the view and the extensively landscaped yard while connecting the outside with the interior living space. The first phase of their remodeling project involved the removal of an existing screened porch and part of an existing first floor laundry. In that space, the design/build professionals at R. J. Landis designed a large sunroom addition that has large casement windows on three sides and includes a bay window that provides views of the golf course. The new sunroom can be opened to the existing house, so friends and family can move through it freely. Other special features include a tongue and groove cedar cathedral ceiling with large skylights, special interior trim details and an intricately designed tile floor.

The existing laundry room space and a small portion of the sunroom addition were used to make a new large, private laundry with walls of storage closets. The laundry also provided an exit to the driveway for convenience.
